Marlu Lake - September 2019 - Kayak Trip

It's the first day of September but we aren't letting summer go without a fight. Even though we're tired and a little sore from yesterday's paddle we decided to head out again. Two days in a row! We were actually surprised that this was the first time that happened.

Since we just wanted a simple, effortless paddle we headed over to Marlu Lake at Thompson Park in Lincroft, NJ.

The parks and recreation staff were renting canoes so there was a little bit of traffic at the launch. Once we launched it was pretty quiet. A few fishermen and the renters but we were mostly alone on the water. We didn't see too much wildlife other than the ubiquitous turtles. There is a bridge over the water that is a main feature of the lake. Beyond the bridge the water was too shallow and muddy to get through so we turned around and headed back under the bridge.

Marlu is a small lake so when we made it back to the launch point we decided to head back out and loop a small island to extend our time on the water.

We ended up paddling roughly 1.75 miles in just under an hour and then headed back to the launch.

On the way out one of the staff approached us about our boats—Advanced Elements inflatables. We have been so happy with them and are happy to talk to inquiring minds. We get questions every time we go out so I will be sure to do a post on the boats soon.
