Marlu Lake - September 2019 - Kayak Trip
It's the first day of September but we aren't letting summer go without a fight. Even though we're tired and a little sore from yesterday's paddle we decided to head out again. Two days in a row! We were actually surprised that this was the first time that happened. Since we just wanted a simple, effortless paddle we headed over to Marlu Lake at Thompson Park in Lincroft, NJ. The parks and recreation staff were renting canoes so there was a little bit of traffic at the launch. Once we launched it was pretty quiet. A few fishermen and the renters but we were mostly alone on the water. We didn't see too much wildlife other than the ubiquitous turtles. There is a bridge over the water that is a main feature of the lake. Beyond the bridge the water was too shallow and muddy to get through so we turned around and headed back under the bridge.
